They're not local to you guys in Ayrshire, but to others they may be:

Dellingburn Garage in Greenock has a dedicated bike section. Also does trikes, Q platers also.
Rothesay motor services is a good one also.

Both of the owners/proprietors of these two places are bikers themselves, so...

Im looking to get my bike checked out to see if everything is ok or anything needs to be done (as I'm still a total mechanical noob myself). I'm thinking of Ayr Motorcycle Centre, but just want to check here if any of you guys have good experiences with them or should I look further?

Cheers!

Ayr mc centre isnt to bad.....though if you just need your bike checked out for safety......tyres, brakes etc....then I'm sure one of us hear on the forum could do that !!!!

Check your PM

As Spud says if its just a check over of your bike you would like then I would happily do that for you if you want or someone else from here could. If you would rather get a mechanic to look it over then Ayr Motorcycle Centre is as good a place as any.

Usualy use fleetpoint for me mot but as i couldnt get hold of them on saturday i got it in at AYR MC mibbes wish i hadnt now ...it failed though not drastically . Dont know if fleetpoint would of picked up any of the few things that were enough for a refusal .
Anyway as said before if its only a wee safety check you want then there is a number of guys on ere who would more than likely help you out providin your bike is MOT'd of course .

Aw thanks guys. The bike is still MOT'd for half a year, but I just like it to be checked just in case. I was gonna arrange something with Spud, but since ScottishtripleR is in Prestwick just like me, maybe that's more convenient  Smile

Well lesson learned , stick to the one you trust and know is good and would highly recommend FLEETPOINT Alan niven .The other place i wont mention i wont be back to fussy fecker of a mot tester and not too chatty/friendly neither . Went straight to Alan today and passed no probs atall no advisories not even verbaly .
Just to tax ninja 2moro and i'll be back out terrorisin the roads again he he.

Drew

Sorn is ok, but can be a bit pinickety(Spelling not a strong point)

Ayr motorcycle centre failed me last year on my steering head bearings....got them changed....and they reconded they hadnt been changed so wouldn't pass me!

Went to Coylton (cant remember his name, but dont think he is there anymore) and he passed  me straight away, also took the booking half an hour before the mot!

A mate of mine had a bad exp with Ayr mc too...if you want details pm me, obv not wanting to slander etc on here! lol

Newmilns quite good though?

I have had no problems with MOT's at Ayr m/c centre. (or when tester was at West of Scotland m/c centre) always friendly and chatty. hell ,they'll even chat up yer missus if ye take her along. bike always passed, but then maybe ...my bike ...is ...."better" ...than yours!!

Exactly where is fleetpoint in newmilns?

Just ive driven/riden through newmilns a couple of times in the last 2weeks and each time cant see any signs suggesting anywhere called fleetpoint!

Is it the big place on the corner that obviously does car mot's etc?

cheers,

Stephen

Hi mate , i booked mine on Sat ,but there was a guy who just turned up without booking .
You could just turn up ,saying you'd like an mot test, but ask first if he'd confirm your exhaust was passable ,if not arrange it for another time?
He's a decent guy ,and wont mind you asking him if he could listen to the bike ,before putting it through the test .
