I think I started at the middle settings and worked from there. Let's say there's 5 settings, then start from number 3 and decide weather or not it's stiff enough. All of the setting on my Gsx are set to the middle sets. If you like to tramp on, then a wee bit stiffer I would think, though I'm not really an expert.
