I usually head North if going out for the day.
Up to the green welly across Rannoch Moor then round to Oban and back via Inverary. The road around Loch leven is really nice.
You can also take the Garelochhead road from Dumbarton instead of the usual Loch lomand/Luss route
Dukes Pass near Aberfoyle is also a great wee road.
Best roads however i think are more than a days ride and back. Applecross and from there basicly all up the west coast as far North as you can go. Beautiful, fast and empty. Also plenty of little single track bits which are awesome.
There are some road in Dumfries and Galloway but i always manage to get myself lost when heading in that direction. I know The Queens way is good as is the road to St Mary's Loch which ive been to once but never managed to get back round again.
I tried The Girvan - Newton Stewart road a few weeks back and rather liked that.
The road to Point of Ardnamurchan (Most Western Point in Mainland Britain) is something else as well. Its hard work on a sports bike when your tired. Just when you think your there you turn another corner and spy another 2 mile of road. Relief when you get there is destroyed when you know youve got to head back along the same track.

All the above that Isleof just said!!!!!!! The road to Ardnamurchan Point is a grueling road, but if you take a tent and decide to camp for the night, Don't chose the camp site at Salen, unless you like midges and I mean the most of the little blighters concentrated in one spot that have ever seen.

Got to be from Irvine to Dunoon..........the long way round
A real sense of speed riding along the loch side, plus leaving those fireblade, power ranger riders on the twistys.
Steak pie @ Dunoon and a coffee at Largs on the way home.
Also the Kilmarnock, via the Galloway forrest to newton stewart road, and of course a steak pie, on route......

Canny beat a rattle down the A713 from Ayr to Castle Douglas for a coffee or shandy on a midweek night.
All the other roads mentioned are just tops.
I know my way around D & G so if anyone wants me to show em around sometime just yell.

Had an excellent wee blast today.*
Irvine - Ayr - Straiton - Bargrennon - Girvan - Ayr - Irvine
The Straiton to Bargrennon stretch is the road from Straiton to Newton Stewart through the Galloway forest. Single track fast and twisty. A few potholes here and there but easily avoidable. Great fun and little traffic. Although id just be aware of forestry traffic.
Instead of carrying on to Newton Stewart i headed back to Girvan. This roads already been mentioned above but worth mentioning again. Ive only done this road once before and it was rather busy last time. Today it was empty and amazing. Pretty fast and extremely twisty. Especially when i got closer to Girvan. Well recommended if you haven't done it.
*This was after I left the house today forgetting to tighten up my rear sprocket Didn't notice until I hit the back brake and the rear went all weird on me Anyways managed to wheel it back and get it sorted

My fave run so far was from Isle of Harris back to Kilwinning . Going over the Skye bridge on a clear blue skies day was picturesque.
I also like heading over to Luss every so often.
